about

DFTB is a zoological metaphor for choosing not to do the things we know are wrong for us and for all the other people we love. What we feed grows and what we starve dies. Character is fate but the beast thrives in famine and feast. We need to remember that there is no inner beast, just facets of our true selves wanting integration to true intimacy more than anything else in the world. This song isn't in praise of the dark side or anything associated with it. It's about choosing not to separate ourselves, building inner walls that give no security; about choosing integration and reality within and without. Don't feed the beast: A warning and admonition resting as much on hope as it does on fear. This song all but wrote and recorded itself in about 3 days back in 2010. - Matt Entwistle
